Cupar Eagles 6 v 2 Melville Mavericks

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive welcomed midfielder Gary Pryde back to the squad for the league match against Melville Mavericks.

Cupar Eagles were immediately on the offensive from kick-off, and Greg McLuckie was unfortunate to see his well struck shot narrowly zip the wrong side of the post. The opener duly arrived for The Eagles, with an error from the Mavericks keeper, allowing Bauchope an unopposed shot, from which he made no mistake. A few minutes later it was that man Bauchope once again on the score sheet, as he cut inside from the left to leave the keeper helpless. The Eagles continued to probe the Mavericks defence and Lewis McLuckie had a number of shots which just missed the target. The Mavericks managed to gain an unlikely foothold in the game, with a rare foray up field, catching The Eagles napping and despite the valiant efforts of Mullen in goal, the ball nestled in the net. The half drew to a close with The Eagles holding a one goal advantage.

The introduction of Pryde and Lackie raised the tempo for The Eagles, and substitute Pryde reacted quickest on the edge of the box to notch number 3. A thunderous free-kick from Middleton from fully 35 yards brought up number 4 for the Cupar team. Darryl Honeyman who had been giving the Mavericks defenders a torrid evening, finished off a fine flowing move involving 16 separate passes with a well placed shot into the bottom left hand corner. Greg McLuckie scored arguably the goal of the evening, taking the ball into feet, 25 yards from goal; he left 3 players in his wake as he drove onto the Mavericks goal before smashing the ball into the roof of the net. There was time for a consolation effort for The Mavericks, with a fortunate strike just evading the despairing Mullen.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘I asked my players to respond after the controversial result last week, and they have certainly done this, we will keep trying right to the end, and justice will prevail......integrity is something which still applies to The Eagles, it is a pity others cannot say the same.....Eagles!’

Cupar Eagles 5 v 2 DRFC

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive was forced to reshuffle his pack once again with the loss of midfield general Darryl Honeyman through injury and playmaker Gary Pryde through work commitments, in came young striker, Calvin Lackie as a stopgap midfielder. There was good news for Clive, with the return of long-term absentee Matthew Broderick, who made the bench.

Cupar Eagles started brightly, and Bauchope was unfortunate to see a fine shot saved by the DRFC keeper. Calvin Lackie netted the opener for The Eagles in the 7^th minute, with a fine finish from an acute angle, following good lead play from Middleton. DRFC hit The Eagles on the counter-attack, and a fortunate deflection allowed the forward, a clear run in on goal, although Mullen managed to get a hand on the shot, it was not enough to prevent the ball hitting the back of the net. The large Eagles support in the away end, had their hearts in their mouths, as the keeper took a long time to recover from an injury sustained during his attempt to save the shot, however, after treatment, he resumed his place in the goals. Calvin Lackie restored The Eagles lead; Greg McLuckie played a neat one-two at the edge of the box, and the young midfielder side-footed the ball past the keeper. Minutes before half-time DRFC, were once again the beneficiaries from a fortuitous bounce, with Mullen left helpless as the ball was rifled into his bottom left hand corner.

The Eagles could not believe that they turned around at half-time, all square, in a half they had totally dominated. DRFC were defending resolutely, but that man Lackie, scored his and The Eagles third with a clinical finish from the edge of the box reacting first to a loose ball. Middleton was next to try his luck and a trademark unstoppable drive from 30 yards provided The Eagles with a 2 goal cushion. Mullen had to be alert in The Eagles goal, as Lewis McLuckie, gifted possession to the DRFC forwards twice in succession, although the keeper was equal to the task both times and The Eagles lead remained intact. The fifth and final Eagles goal was arguably the pick of the bunch, an inch-perfect pass from Lewis McLuckie allowed his brother Greg to ghost in at the right hand corner of the box, to unleash a well-placed shot into the roof of the net. There was time for Clive and Broderick to replace Lackie and Greg McLuckie respectively, and despite a couple of close calls the score line finished 5 v 2.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘The lads know that they will have to play much better in the next few matches. We had a large support here once again, and we owe it to these supporters who pay their hard earned cash to be entertained. There were too many players below par tonight; however, the main thing is the 3 points which keep us top of the league. I hope to do a lot more work with the players during the international break, and hopefully the results will be there for all to see when we return’. Eagles!!!”

Cupar Eagles 6 v 4 Tetley Teabags

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive was afforded the luxury of having a fully fit squad for the fixture against fellow title contenders, and early pace setters Tetley Teabags.

In front of a large travelling support of over 100 vocal Eagles fans, The Eagles made the brighter start to the game, with the Teabags keeper doing well to turn away a fine Greg McLuckie strike in the opening minute. Totally against the run of play, an in swinging corner, left Middleton on his own with two attackers, and as the ball broke, a touch was sufficient to take the ball past Mullen, to give the Teabags an early lead. The Eagles searched for an equaliser, and it came following a move between Greg McLuckie and Darryl Honeyman, which allowed the midfielder time to steady himself before shooting, the keeper was only able to parry the ball to the edge of the box, where Greg McLuckie displayed his strikers’ instincts to stroke the ball home. A perfect through ball from Bauchop sent Honeyman through on goal and from a seemingly impossible angle; he rifled the ball home to give The Eagles the lead. Greg McLuckie and Bauchope played a neat one-two on the edge of the box, and Bauchope sent the keeper the wrong way for number 3. The Eagles were caught ball watching and the lumbering centre forward, smashed the ball from 20 yards, an unfortunate deflection left Mullen once again to pick the ball out of the net. The Eagles turn around at half-time leading 3 v 2.

Calvin Lackie replaced the injured Greg McLuckie at the interval. The Eagles were on the offensive straight from the restart, and Honeyman scored his second goal of the match, as he skipped past 3 challenges to place the ball in the bottom left hand corner. Tetley Teabags forced themselves back into the game with a well taken goal to make it 4 v 3. Gary Pryde was then introduced for the tiring Bauchop as Clive looked to keep up the pace of the game. A long ball over the top, left Lackie through one on one with the keeper and he made no mistake to restore The Eagles 2 goal advantage. Teabags were not to be denied and following a Pryde error on the edge of the box, the striker notched up number 4. Pryde atoned for his earlier error, as a he held of two defenders to run through and bullet the ball into the Teabags net. The final result was 6 v 4 in The Eagles favour, and they swapped places with Teabags to move to the top of the league.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘This was the finest football the team has played for many awhile, I am proud of every one of my players tonight. There was a large crowd behind them tonight and they did not leave disappointed.’

Cupar Eagles 6 v 1 Melville Mavericks

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive was forced to reshuffle the pack following the loss of midfielders Gary Pryde and Darryl Honeyman through work commitments, with Calvin Lackie showing his versatility by slotting in alongside Bauchope in the middle of the park, for the league match against Melville Mavericks.

Cupar Eagles took the game to Melville Mavericks from the kick-off, and Greg McLuckie was unfortunate to see two well struck shots, beaten away by the goalkeeper in as many minutes. With The Eagles controlling the midfield, it was only a matter of time before they scored. This was an opener worth the entrance fee alone, as Marc Middleton sidestepped the lumbering defender to hit an unstoppable shot from fully 35 yards into the bottom left hand corner. The second goal for The Eagles came from a swiftly taken Middleton throw-in, which allowed Lewis McLuckie time and space to slam the ball into the top left hand corner of the net. The Eagles were then caught on the break as a fine move passing move on the edge of The Eagles box, finished with Mullen being left helpless as The Mavericks reduced the deficit to one. Bauchope edged The Eagles further ahead on the stroke of half-time, when he lost his marker at a corner, to hit a wondrous dipping shot from the 18 yard line.

The Eagles kept up their momentum in the second-half with another wonder strike from Marc Middleton, another long range swerving shot which almost burst the net in the process. The Mavericks threatened to get back into the game, however, Mullen in The Eagles goal, twice thwarted their attempts, the first of which must be a candidate for save of the season, even at this early stage, with a diving save to his left hand side pushing the ball past the post when a goal seemed almost certain. Calvin Lackie was next on the score sheet for The Eagles, with a fine turn, which left his marker floundering, allowed him through one on one with the keeper, and their was only ever going to be one winner, as the youngster, finished with an exquisite chip. Greg McLuckie won his personal duel with the keeper to net The Eagles final goal, running onto a Bauchope through ball to round the keeper and score.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘This was an important match for the lads, having lost last weeks opening fixture to Kemback, following some contentious decisions. We had a weakened team out there tonight, however, the players that came in done their job magnificently and certainly give me something to think about for next week.’

Cupar Eagles 14 v 1 Black Lungs

Cupar Eagles rounded off their season in style, with an emphatic win over bottom of the table Black Lungs, and set a new club record victory of 14 v 1 in the process. Manager Colin Clive had an almost full strength squad to select from with the only absentee, playmaker Gary Pryde who was missing due to work commitments.

The gulf in class was apparent from kick-off and The Eagles raced into a 4 v 0 lead after 10 minutes, with 2 goals apiece from Lewis and Greg McLuckie. With Mullen in The Eagles goal reduced to the role of a spectator, shots rained in on the Black Lung goal, and it was no surprise when Darryl Honeyman and Andy Bauchope added to the score-line with 2 well taken goals just before half-time, to send the Eagles in at the interval; 6 v 0 ahead.

The Eagles were now playing the second half, in exhibition mode and Lewis McLuckie grabbed his hat-trick minutes into the second period with an audacious chip over the advancing keeper. Lewis McLuckie then added his 4th and The Eagles 8th with a sweet shot on the volley leaving the keeper helpless. Manger Colin Clive then came on for the tiring Lewis McLuckie, and he could hardly believe his luck as a misplaced pass from the defender, allowed him to pick his spot and stroke the ball calmly pass the keeper. Greg McLuckie then scored his hat-trick for number 10, with a typical snapshot from the edge of the box. Andy Bauchope and Darryl Honeyman scored in quick succession to put The Eagles 12 v 0 up, before a wicked deflection of Bauchope left Mullen in the Eagles goal helpless as the Black Lungs grabbed a consolation goal. There was still time for Calvin Lackie, and Darryl Honeyman to add to the score-line and ensure The Eagles finished on a high, with a club record victory 14 v 1. When the whistle sounded, the hordes of Eagles fans rushed onto the pitch to celebrate with their heroes, and to proclaim a historic back to back title success, carrying Manager Clive aloft during scenes of jubilation!

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘I just want to thank the lads for the effort they have put in not just tonight but over the course of a long hard season, they thoroughly deserve the honour they have won tonight. We had offers for a few of our players in the transfer window, however they have displayed amazing loyalty to remain with The Eagles, and play their part in our success story!”

Cupar Eagles took to the field knowing that a win against DRFC would clinch the league championship for the second successive season, with 3 games to spare. Manager Colin Clive was forced to reshuffle his pack with the loss of midfield general Darryl Honeyman through injury, which necessitated, young striker, Calvin Lackie becoming a makeshift anchor man. Andy Bauchope, who was still carrying an injury, was only able to make the bench.

Cupar Eagles started at a frenzied pace, and Greg McLuckie was unfortunate to see an early snapshot hit the post and bounce away to safety. The Eagles kept up relentless pressure on DRFC, and were rewarded with the opener from Greg McLuckie, who displayed tenacious running to force a mistake from the harassed defender, allowing Greg to slot the ball home. It was all Eagles at this stage, and a driving run from the centre-circle, allowed Lackie to skip past 3 challenges to place the ball in the bottom right hand corner for the second goal. With sharp decisive passes, cutting DRFC open almost at will, the only surprise was the time for the 3rd Eagles goal, and this duly arrived with Greg McLuckie finishing off a free flowing move, with an exquisite chip over the keeper. The Eagles went in at the interval, 3 v 0, and with one hand on the championship trophy.

The second-half followed a similar vein to the first, with constant Eagles pressure, pushing DRFC further back, almost to their own box, and chance after chance falling to the Eagles attackers, with only a combination last ditch defending, poor finishing and a large slice of luck keeping the score down. The 4th goal for The Eagles was arguably the pick of the bunch with Middleton, releasing an unstoppable shot which was dispatched into the top left hand corner. DRFC had been limited to long range shots by this time, however, with a rare foray up field, Mullen was called into action to preserve The Eagles clean sheet, with a breath-taking point-blank save, drawing applause from the large crowd of Eagles supporters behind his goal. Player-Manager Colin Clive was unlucky to see a shot career of the post after fine play from Lewis McLuckie. There was time for Greg McLuckie to grab his hat-trick with a fine solo effort, darting past 2 defenders to squeeze his shot home. The final whistle went to scenes of jubilation from the home support, The Eagles had done it the Championship had been retained, with an unbeaten 8 match run clinching it ascendancy and three goals up.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘The lads have worked hard for this, and I am delighted to witness such a fine match to clinch the championship. We have had to adapt and overcome the loss of key players throughout the season, but the whole squad, has to a man played their part. Cupar Eagles 5 v 0 Haphazard United

Cupar Eagles came out of cold storage after 2 months without a game, with the go ahead given to finally play their much awaited match against title challengers Haphazard United. Manager Colin Clive welcomed midfielder Gary Pryde and young striker Calvin Lackie back into the squad for the match; however, he suffered a blow before kick-off with the late withdrawal of midfield maestro Andy Beauchope through injury.

Cupar Eagles were on the offensive from kick-off, and displayed none of the expected rustiness after weeks of inactivity. The Haphazard keeper had to be alert to turn a Middleton pile-driver away for a corner. The Eagles were making all the running in the early part of the game, and were content to pass the ball, in search of the opener. With constant pressure on the United goal, it was only a matter of time before the opening goal came. Middleton left his man for dead, and as he surged into the penalty area, he was upended, leaving the referee no option but to point to the spot. Greg McLuckie sent the keeper the wrong way from the resulting spot-kick to put the Eagles 1 nil up. Haphazard United were being pushed deeper and deeper into their own half, with The Eagles retaining possession well, before Lewis McLuckie played an inch perfect pass through to Greg McLuckie who left the keeper no chance, to score his and The Eagles second of the match. Lewis McLuckie then got in on the act, finishing off a fine flowing attack, collecting a precision pass from Honeyman; he danced away to the edge of the box to hit an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner. The first half drew to an end with The Eagles in the ascendancy and three goals up.

Lackie beat 2 players, before crossing to Middleton who hit the ball first time on the volley, to leave the ball nestling in the United net. Mullen in The Eagles goal, who had been having a pretty easy match, was then called into action twice in succession to ensure The Eagles goal remained intact, with the second of these a brave diving save at the feet of the onrushing Cole. There was time for the Eagles player-manager to make his entrance, and the crowd rose to their feet as he sped through on goal in a one-on-one with the keeper, however, he was to be denied by a fine save.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘This was a tough match, the lads have not had a game for almost 7 weeks now, however, you would never have guessed from the way they played from start to finish. This was an opportunity to end the challenge of Haphazard once and for all, and we certainly did that! Next week, we play DRFC in a game where we can clinch the league, I therefore urge each and every one of our large travelling support to get behind the team and cheer them onto victory!’

The eagerly awaited top of the league match between leaders Cupar Eagles and second placed Haphazard United fell victim to to the recent adverse weather conditions, it is hoped to reschedule this game later on in December. Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive has named Marc Middleton as the Cupar Eagles Player of the Month for November. Colin said 'Marc has cemented his place in the back line now, and has won a couple of man of the match awards this month. He typifies everything about The Eagles, courage, resilience and a never-say-die attitude, and in addition has weighed in with a couple of important goals. Congratulations Marc.

Cupar Eagles were on the offensive from kick-off and the Mafia keeper had to be alert to turn a Middleton pile-driver away for a corner. The Eagles were making all the running in the early part of the game, and were switching the ball from side to side in search of the opener; this duly arrived when Greg McLuckie scored a fine solo effort, totally wrong footing the keeper from 20 yards. Melville Mafia were forced to defend from deep, and this afforded The Eagles all the room to work a second goal. Greg McLuckie was the scorer once again, finishing off a fine flowing attack, collecting a precision pass from Honeyman, he danced away to drive the ball past the despairing keeper. How The Eagles did not add a second goal before half-time was a mystery to the large travelling Eagles support, as shots rained in on the besieged Mafia goal time and again.

Gary Pryde replaced a tiring Greg McLuckie at the interval and with almost his first touch of the game, was involved in the setting up of the third goal. Pryde chested down a cross from the right, before laying it off into the path of the advancing Beauchope, who made no mistake beating the keeper at the near post. Pryde scored his first goal of the season to give The Eagles a 4 v 0 advantage, and it was certainly worth the wait, Lewis McLuckie drove at the heart of the Mafia defence, before sliding the ball to Pryde on the edge of the box, with still a lot of work to do, he showed great composure to beat 2 defenders before placing the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Mullen in The Eagles goal who had been having a relatively quiet match, was then called into action twice in succession to ensure The Eagles goal remained intact, with the second of these a finger tip save to push the ball over the bar, when a goal seemed a certainty. The final Eagles goal resulted from another fine surging run from Lewis McLuckie, ending with and unstoppable shot nestling in the back of the net from fully 30 yards. There was time for the Eagles player-manager to make his entrance, and with almost the final kick of the game, a shot rebounded to safety of the bar to thwart Clive.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘The tough games keep coming for the players, however, they answer the call every week, and we have now opened up a 5 point lead at the top. The next game is vital, with second placed Haphazard United coming to call, this is yet another of these must win games. The Cupar Eagles Manger Colin Clive was back in charge for the Cupar Eagles latest match against the in-form Whip Inn Boys and rewarded Calvin Lackie with a starting place following his recent good form.

The fans were quickly on their feet celebrating the first goal as a fine run from Darryl Honeyman set Calvin Lackie up on the edge of the box, and the youngster placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner. Greg McLuckie was next on the score sheet for the Eagles, seconds after seeing a fine shot ricochet to safety, he scored the goal his play had deserved with a deft touch taking out 2 defenders to leave himself through one on one against the keeper, from that position there was only going to be one winner. Mullen in The Eagles goal was then called into action mid-way through the first half, a rare foray up front from The Whip Inn Boys, ended with Mullen superbly diving to his right to palm the ball away from danger. There was no further score as the first half drew to an end with the Eagles leading 2 v 0.

The introduction of Beauchope at half-time lifted the pace of the game for the Eagles, and the combative midfielder quickly set about finding space for his team-mates. Calvin Lackie scored his second goal of the evening, with a shot on the turn, sailing past the keeper. The goal of the evening for The Eagles arrived when Marc Middleton rose unchallenged in the air to guide the ball into the net with a powerful header. The 5th Eagles goal was scored by Lewis McLuckie, with 3 men left in his wake; he glided effortlessly to the edge of the D, before bamboozling the keeper with a powerful swerving shot. Andrew Beauchope was not to be outdone, and after collecting the ball in the middle of the pitch, surged into a shooting position, and despatched the ball into the net for number 6. The introduction of Colin Clive ensured there was to be a rousing end to the match, and the veteran played an inch perfect pass through to allow Darryl Honeyman to score with a well taken finish into the roof of the net. The Eagles took their foot of the pedal in the last few minutes and The Whip Inn Boys took advantage to score 2 consolation efforts. The first with Middleton caught out by the bounce of the ball, leaving Mullen no chance and the second a deflected effort which landed fortuitously at the feet of the big centre forward who was left with an open net.

Manger Colin Clive said after the game ‘This was a big one for us, we have been a little rusty, having had no fixture for 2 weeks, however, this was an opportunity to end the title aspirations of The Whip Inn Boys, and we took that opportunity with open arms. The players hit the ground running and I am proud of each and every one of them. I am pleased that we have managed to retain our 5 point lead at the top of the table. I would wish now to extend the olive branch to contract rebel Roy McGregor and ask him to return to the fold, his experience will be vital in the title run-in’.

The recent inclement weather has resulted in the Cupar Eagles being left without a fixture this week, though Manager Colin Clive has returned from his recent trip to Selhurst Park and has been ensuring that his players are put through a rigorous training schedule. Greg McLuckie has been named as the Cupar Eagles Player of the Month for October. Colin said "Greg has had an excellent start to the season, and remains our top scorer, he has put in outstanding performances in every game and is a real ambassador for the team both on and off the pitch. He has handled the competition he has faced from his rival Calvin Lackie for the front position of the team, very well, and hopefully his goals should see us through to another league title." All Cupar Eagles players and officials are reminded that their next match takes place on Monday 15 November at St Andrews, kick-off 9.30.

Cupar Eagles 8 v 2 DRFC

With Manager Clive absent on his liaison visit to Selhurst, Assistant Manager Harry Hood took charge of the Cupar Eagles once more for the fixture against DRFC. Calvin Lackie made a return to the Eagles squad, and he was joined on the bench by Darryl Honeyman.

The Eagles started the match at a breakneck pace and in the first attack of the match, Greg McLuckie was unfortunate to see a fine shot on the turn strike the upright and bounce clear to safety. The Eagles were cutting through DRFC’s rearguard almost at will, and scored a deserved opener, following a lung bursting run out of defence from Middleton, finished off with an unstoppable shot from 30 yards. Greg McLuckie was next on the score sheet for The Eagles with a typical opportunistic strike from the edge of the box, a badly cleared ball out of defence, landed kindly at the feet of the Eagles top scorer and he made no mistake planting the ball firmly passed the keeper. The Eagles were now in the ascendency and it was no real surprise when The Eagles scored a 3rd goal. This time Darryl Honeyman, (on for the injured Gary Pryde) danced his way passed three DRFC defenders, with a final turn to leave them wrong footed, he calmly slotted the ball into the right hand corner of the goals. This was to be the last action of the first half and The Eagles went in at the interval 3 v 0.

With Andrew Beauchope unable to appear after the interval due to injury, the supporters gave a hearty welcome to his replacement Calvin Lackie. Lackie was soon into action, and with almost his first touch of the ball, guided the ball into the DRFC goal to net The Eagles number 4. The same player then scored his second and The Eagles 5th, minutes later, after winning a race to the ball, leaving the big DRFC centre-half in his wake, to shoot into the top right hand corner of the goals. Greg McLuckie typified The Eagles spirit pressurising the DRFC into a mistake, which he pounced on and made no mistake to score the 6th goal of the night. The lumbering DRFC centre-half was short with a pass back, and Greg McLuckie intercepted to complete his hat-trick with a curling left foot shot past the isolated keeper. The Eagles relaxed now with 7 minutes to go, and Mullen in the Eagles goal was called into action, to push a shot past the goal in a rare DRFC attack. The resulting corner ended with the ball deflected past Mullen, as Honeyman vainly tried to prevent the shot, but only diverted it past his keeper. DRFC once more totally against the run of play, were left through on goal and despite Mullen’s best efforts, a second goal was conceded. There was time for one further goal from The Eagles and this was definitely worth waiting for, Lewis McLuckie ran a full 40 yards, from his own half, leaving a clutch of defenders behind him, with the way to goal opening up in front of him, he struck a fine shot which flew past the keeper and almost ripped the net off in the process, even at this early stage of the season, this is surely a contender for goal of the season.

Cupar Eagles 1 v 0 Haphazard United

With Cupar Eagles Manger Colin Clive down south on a scouting trip, the team was left in the capable hands of his assistant Harry Hood for this top-of-the-table clash with Haphazard United. With new signing Lackie also out of the team through work commitments, it was a rather depleted Eagles team who took the field.

The Eagles started the match at a frantic pace, and as so often this season dominated the early stages without managing to gain an advantage. Greg McLuckie was having a particularly torrid time up front as time and again he was denied by the Haphazard keeper, and just when he looked to have opened the scoring the ball came back off the post with the keeper well beaten. It was all one way traffic at this stage however; Mullen in the Eagles goal had to be alert to tip a fine effort around the post from a rare Haphazard attack. The constant pressure had to tell eventually and when the opening goal came it was certainly worth waiting for. A long throw from Mullen to Lewis McLuckie, enabled the full-back to push forward into the heart of the Haphazard midfield, from there a sweet pass to Andy Beauchope switched the play to the wing, a cross field ball from the star midfielder left Darryl Honeyman through and a chip over the advancing keeper resulted in the ball nestling in the Haphazard net. With shots peppering the opposition goal, it remained a mystery why the Eagles were unable to add to their solitary strike as the first half drew to an end.

The second half picked up where the first half ended with the Eagles in full control of the game yet a combination of poor finishing and misfortune in front of goal kept the score line at one nil. With the game drawing to an end, there was time for Mullen to make one final telling save from a Haphazard breakaway, and with the first shot punched away; a telling interception from Middleton ensured the Eagles gained the victory they deserved and the place at the top of the league.

In a match in which there were no failures, Mark Middleton dominated everything in the air to win the man of the match award.

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive welcomed Gary Pryde back to the Eagles starting line-up, after he had missed the previous game through work commitments; the good news however, was tempered with Dean Smart and Matthew Hooligan joining Syme and McGregor on the long-term injury list. Clive refused to bow to public demand and the new fan’s favourite Calvin Lackie had to be content with a place on the bench alongside Beauchope.

Cupar Eagles were off to a good start against one of the league’s favourites, with Pryde and Honeyman both dictating the play, threading the ball through time and again to Greg McLuckie up front. The Cupar Eagles top-scorer for the past few seasons has certainly got his work cut out this season to silence his critics, and he was in determined mood as he chased down lost causes, and only a combination of fine goalkeeping and bad luck prevented him from scoring a hat-trick within the first 10 minutes of the match. The opening goal duly arrived and it was that man Greg McLuckie who delivered, taking control of a fine pass from Pryde to send the keeper the wrong way. The match was all one way traffic now, with Melville sitting deep inviting the Eagles to come onto them, despite constant pressure, the Eagles had to settle for a one goal advantage at half-time.

Manger Clive introduced Beauchope and Lackie into the fray at the start of the second-half in an effort to turn pressure into goals, and what a start they both made. A fine run from Beauchope was wonderfully tipped away by the keeper, only as far as the onrushing Honeyman who rifled a shot into the bottom left hand corner. Lackie was then unfortunate to see a shot rebound of the post with the keeper left totally bemused. A fine in swinging corner from Honeyman resulted in Middleton burying the ball past the Mafia keeper for number three. Beauchope finally joined the goal scorers beating the keeper from a seemingly impossible angle. Manger Clive then made his appearance to a vociferous welcome, and quickly used his experience and presence, to ensure the tempo of the game remained high. There was time for a late Mafia consolation goal as Pryde was left on his own at the back against three attackers, and Mullen was left no chance as a sliced effort looped over his head.

Eagles Manager Colin Clive said after the game, “It was important that we kept our momentum going from last week, the boys played magnificently, sure I was a little perturbed when the score remained at 1 v 0, but the lads kept going and ended up with the result they deserved. I know that it is a team game, however, I must pay tribute to our Man of the Match, Lewis McLuckie who gave a tenacious performance from start to finish!”

Cupar Eagles 6 Whip Inn Boys 2, 4th/October/10

Cupar Eagles started a new season in the St Andrews 6-A-Side League full of optimism following their previous record-breaking season, in which the league and cup double was won. It was a transitional Eagles team which took the field against one of the League favourites Whip Inn Boys. Long-term injury victims Syme and McGregor were still absent, as was midfielder Pryde and reserve keeper Broderick due to work commitments. This allowed Manager Clive to give a place on the substitute’s bench, to the latest product from the Youth Academy, Calvin Leckie.

The match kicked off in blustery conditions, and the Eagles were taking up where they had left of last season with Greg McLuckie and Darryl Honeyman both testing the Boys Keeper. It was a shock when totally against the run of play, The Whip Inn Boys took the lead, a poor corner for the Eagles, resulted in a quick break away, and Lewis McLuckie was left three against one, as the Boys striker shot past a helpless Mullen in the Eagles goal. The Eagles were now struggling to get a foothold in the game, and Mullen rescued them time and again with some breathtaking goalkeeping. A tactical switch from Clive, with Honeyman and Beauchope switching sides resulted in an Eagles equaliser, with Honeyman finishing a superb through ball from Lewis McLuckie. With neither team being able to gain an advantage, the first-half drew to an end with the teams’ level one all.

Manger Clive then introduced Leckie for his debut at the start of the second-half, and what a turning point this was to prove in the match. A quick fire hat-trick with the second being the pick of the bunch, a well placed shot with his weaker right foot from the edge of the box, despite the close attention of three defenders, has heralded the arrival of the new Eagles hero. With manager Clive, now also introduced to the match, his fine link-up play allowed both Lewis McLuckie and Greg McLuckie to add to the score sheet, as the Eagles ran rampant, with scintillating, exhibition football being displayed. The Whip Inn Boys did manage to grab a consolation goal as the game drew to an end, but it was to prove to be no more than that.

Manager Clive said after the game “It is always good to get that first match of the season out of the way and get the boys back into their routine again. I am particularly impressed with the debut from young Leckie, he is one for the future and will definitely improve as the season progresses, I have high hopes for him! It is a team game though, and each and every one of my players gave their all tonight, I can’t ask for anymore”

Cupar Eagles 3 v 3 Team Awesome

Manager Colin Clive gave a debut to the latest product of the Eagles Youth Academy, young midfielder Zak Dingle-Mitchell, and welcomed back Honeyman as the Eagles looked to get back to winning ways in the Champions League against Group Leaders Team Awesome.

The Eagles started the game brightly and created the best chance of the first half, when Greg McLuckie having manoeuvred himself into a shooting position, was unlucky to see a fine shot come back of the upright, before being cleared to safety. Team Awesome were being limited to the occasional foray into the Eagles half, and these attacks were being effectively dealt with by Lewis McLuckie and Middleton, with a succession of long range shots, testament to their growing frustration. A wonderful flowing move, involving Beauchope and Honeyman , ended with the former striking an unstoppable shot past the keeper, to give the Eagles the lead going into half-time.

Dingle-Mitchell made his introduction at the start of the second-half to a tumultuous reception from the die-hard Eagles supporters, and he was swiftly involved in the action with a shot on the turn which narrowly fizzed over. Totally against the run of play, Team Awesome managed to grab an equaliser, a slack ball played across the Eagles defensive line was seized upon by the forward, who was then left clean through on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, however, Mullen managed to somehow divert the ball onto the post, the inrushing midfielder managed to prod home as Lewis McLuckie miskicked. A speculative cross come shot then deceived Mullen at the near post as the Eagles fell behind for the first time in the match. The Eagles response was immediate, with debutant Dingle-Mitchell scoring the goal of the game, with a precision shot leaving the Awesome keeper helpless. With both teams on the offensive, Eagles again fell behind as Lewis McLuckie diverted a shot past his bemused keeper. Team Awesome resorted to time-wasting efforts as they tried to hold on for a wine, however, Honeyman silenced the partisan crowd with a clever lob, from the edge of the box in the dying seconds of the game. There was to be no additional time for a winner and in the end both teams had to settle for a draw.

Manager Colin Clive in the post-match interview said “This was a much better performance from the boys, I asked for total commitment today and they responded magnificently. I am disappointed that we did not manage to grab all three points as we were clearly the better side. I hope the boys can continue their form for the derby match next week against Kemback, and give ourselves a big step towards qualification”.

Eagles Manager Colin Clive was dealt a blow just before the kick-off with the loss of influential midfielder Darryl Honeyman, however, the news was softened with the arrival of the latest product of the Youth Academy, Stephen Kane.

The Eagles were straight on the defensive, and keeper Mullen was called into action on a number of occasions to deny the Deportivo attackers. With almost constant pressure on the Eagles goal, it was only a matter of time before the opener came, and when it did, it was self-inflicted. Middleton was caught trying to play the ball out of defence and succeeded only in gifting the attacker a clear run through on goal to net despite Mullen’s valiant effort. Eagles responded and Greg McLuckie was unlucky to see a shot tipped over the bar. It was then Lewis McLuckie who saved the day for the Eagles, with a tremendous tackle on the edge of the box, preventing a certain goal, to thunderous applause from the Eagles faithful. The first-half drew to a close with the Eagles one goal adrift.

The Eagles made a better start to the second-half and Gary Pryde went close with a shot which fizzed past the upright. The Eagles were caught napping, as Middleton, once again played a slack ball out of defence, and the outcome was the same, with Mullen beaten for a second time. Eagles finally came to life, and a fine move involving Greg McLuckie and Stephen Kane, ended with the debutant placing the ball wide of the advancing keeper. With the Eagles pushing for an equaliser, they were always going to be vulnerable to the counter-attack, and Deportivo claimed a fortunate third goal. With the game seemingly brought to a premature end with a full 2 mins of time remaining, the Eagles crashed to their first defeat in 11 matches.

Manager Colin Clive said after the match” The Eagles can and will play better than this, too many of my players thought they just had to turn up tonight. We underestimated the opposition, and I can guarantee this will not happen again!” Colin refused to be drawn on rumours that he was preparing to reinstate contract rebel Mark Malcolm, answering “this is purely speculation!”

Cupar Eagles 7 v 1 All Star Posties

Manager Colin Clive had a full strength team available as Cupar Eagles took to the field, in this their first match in this year’s Champions League. Confidence was high in the Eagles camp as they attempt to complete a historic League and Cup Double. Cupar Eagles took the game to All Star Posties from the kick-off, with Honeyman dispossessing the Posties captain, before laying a perfect through ball to G. McLuckie who steered the ball past the advancing keeper to give the Eagles the lead after 20 seconds of play! The Eagles supporters were still celebrating the opener, when that man G. McLuckie doubled the lead with another fine finish. With the Eagles in the ascendancy, it was no surprise when they scored again, with G. McLuckie bursting past 3 defenders to plant the ball in the bottom left hand corner. Keeper Mullen then had to be alert with a fine double save, to keep their 3 goal advantage. Minutes from the end of the first half, G.McLuckie claimed a fabulous fourth goal, finishing from an acute angle after fine link up play involving Beauchope and Honeyman. The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Eagles pushing the Posties, more and more onto the back foot. Beauchope, controlled a high ball towards the end of the box, and with a deft touch left the keeper to pick the ball out of the net. Middleton was next to get himself on the score sheet, with a fine volley 20 yards out, erupting into the back of the next. L. McLuckie completed the rout, after a run from the half-way line, left himself through on-on-one with the keeper, and he was to make no mistake finishing at the near post. All Star Posties did manage a late consolation goal, with the ball taking a wicked deflection past Mullen, to scupper his chance of keeping a clean sheet.

Manager Colin Clive said after the game “It was important that we got our league campaign off to a good start, and I can ask no more from the boys than scoring 7 goals against a very good team. We are now sitting top of the group after the first game, and this is where I wish to remain. My players have the belief that they can go all the way to the final, and I have complete confidence in their abilities”

Cupar Eagles 5 v 0 Barselonia

Cupar Eagles took the field against bottom of the league Barselonia knowing that a win would guarantee them the league championship and a first ever trophy. With the exception of long-term casualties Roy McGregor, Ally Syme and Dean Smart, Manager Colin Clive had a full squad to chose from. Cupar Eagles were straight on the offensive and a fine exchange of passes between Greg McLuckie and Darryl Honeyman ended with the latter forcing a fine save from the Barselonia keeper. Midfielder Andrew Beauchope was next to try his luck with a fine lob crashing back of the bar and eventually the ball was cleared to safety by the Barselonia defence. A mazy run and shot from Lewis McLuckie who left a trail of opposition players in his wake, did not receive the reward it was due, as the ball cannoned off the upright. It was all Eagles at this stage, however, Barselonia were given the chance to take the lead against the run of play with a dubious penalty aware. Mullen dived athletically to his right to not only stop, but to hold the spot-kick. The Barselonia goal was seeming to lead a charmed life, and half-time quickly approached with the game still level. With the news filtering through that the Mavericks game was also all square, Manager Clive introduced both himself and Gary Pryde to the game. This was to be the Managers finest hour, with a virtuoso performance, as he scored all five goals, each finished better than the last. A mixture of a powerful header, and two fine strikes with each foot, was an example to all of how the beautiful game should be played. Clive secured the victory single-handedly and with it the clinching of the league. A clearly emotional Clive was quoted "this was always going to be a tough season, our first without our mentor and friend not to mention chairman Tommy Marshall, who was tragically taken from us. The boys lost their first game of the season, however, they have put together a fine 9 match unbeaten run to clinch this trophy. We have done it for ourselves, our team, but most importantly for Tommy!!!" The Eagles now hope to match on and clinch a historic Champions Cup and with it a fantastic double.

The Eagles had won the corresponding fixture 6 v 3 and confidence was naturally high in the Eagles camp on the back of a 7 game unbeaten run, with the knowledge that a win for the Eagles and anything less for Melville Mavericks would see the Eagles clinch a first ever league win.

The Eagles started brightly and were constantly harassing and closing down their opponents. Greg McLuckie was first to show for the Eagles and was desperately unlucky to see his shot rebound off the upright. With Beauchope and Honeyman probing and making fine runs, it seemed only a matter of time before the Eagles took the lead, however, totally against the run of play, a fortunate bounce allowed Volcanica to strike first, with a fine placed shot into the bottom left hand corner leaving Mullen helpless, the Volcanica crowd erupted in celebration! The Eagles were quick to silence the partisan crowd with a fine finish from Honeyman following a terrific defence splitting pass from Beauchope. The Eagles continued to press, however, they went in at half-time level. The news that Melville Mavericks were winning 4 v 0 at half-time, and a rousing teamtalk from Clive, inspired the Eagles to search for a winner. A fine corner to the back post found Honeyman unmarked, and a turn on the volley was dispatched neatly past the bemused Volcania keeper.

Clive introduced Pryde for the tiring Greg McLuckie and the substitue almost snatched a third with a shot that narrowly went wide. It was left to defensive stalwat Mark Middleton to save the day for the Eagles with a goal saving tackle at the death, which ensured the Eagles held on to win the game 2 v 1.

Cupar Eagles 4 v 3 Melville Mavericks

Cupar Eagles Manager Colin Clive was down to the bare bones of the squad for the top of the league clash with Melville Mavericks, with McGregor, Smart and Syme all missing through injury.

Cupar Eagles attacked straight from the kick-off, and it was midfield dynamo, Darryl Honeyman who opened the scoring with a fine shot from the right side of the box, leaving the Mavericks keeper well beaten. It was all Eagles at this stage, and both Beachope and Greg McLuckie, were denied by some fine goalkeeping. Eagles were then left totally bemused, when a blatant penalty award, was waved away by the referee. Totally against the run of play, Mavericks equalised, with the Eagles caught at the back, leaving Mullen no chance. Eagles did not allow their heads to go down and were swiftly back on the attack, and Greg McLuckie quickly restored their lead with a powerful volley.

Gary Pryde made his entrance at the start of the second half, and made his mark immediately, following up a Beachope shot, to place the rebound past the keeper from a seemingly impossible angle. The Eagles switched off momentarily and allowed Mavericks to gain a foothold in the game, with a drive from the edge of the box, taking a wicked deflection of Middleton to take leave Mullen helpless. Eagles were now being pushed back, as Mavericks sensed an equaliser was coming and following the breakdown of an Eagles attack, a quick breakaway left the defence exposed and Mullen beaten for a third time.

Eagles rallied once again, and a defensive blunder, allowed Man of the Match Beauchope to finish with aplomb and hand the lead to the Eagles. With both teams having chances, the game swept from end to end, but there was to be no further scoring and the Eagles claimed a fantastic victory to send them soaring two points clear at the top of the league.

Eagles Manager Colin Clive said "We always knew this was going to be a tough game, however, I am very proud of each and everyone of my players who gave their all tonight. We are now on a four match unbeaten run, and are getting stronger with every game. I know we are top of the league but there is still a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season. I know my players will not let me down and will push on from this result".

Manager Colin Clive was dealt a blow before kick-off with the loss of influential defender Roy McGregor who failed to shake off a troublesome groin injury, this news was tempered however, with the return of midfield dynamo Gary Pryde.

Eagles were on the offensive straight from the kick-off with both Honeyman and Beauchope testing the keeper in the early stages of the match. With constant pressure it was only a matter of time before the first goal came for the Eagles, and it was worth waiting for, Greig McLuckie played a neat one two with Middleton before wheeling away from his marker to send a low shot past the keeper. A fine solo effort from Beauchope quickly made the score two v nil, with the keeper beaten from a narrow angle. The Volcanica keeper was in inspirational form, and was called into action repeatedly to keep the score down, as the first half drew to a close.

The Eagles were caught napping at the start of the second half, as missed tackles allowed Volcanica to pull a goal back, and in the process causing the Eagles to lose their first goal in over 100 minutes of play! Honeyman quickly restored the Eagles two goal advantage with a sweet shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Pryde came off the bench and quickly made his mark, with a calmly taken finish after good set-up play from Lewis McLuckie. Greig McLuckie claimed his second of the match, holding off two men to steer the ball past the advancing goalkeepe. Pryde completed the scoring for the Eagles, with a magnificent volley to send the fans delirious. Eagles eased off in the final few minutes and allowed Volcanica to grab two late goals, to restore a little pride to a battered team.

Manager Colin Clive said after the game, "It was important for us to keep the pressure on the league leaders, and with them only drawing tonight, next week will see us play Melville Mavericks in what many are seeing as the league decider. I want all our fans to get behind this and win this league for Tommy!"

Cupar Eagles 4 v 0 Bier D'or Alor

Eagles Manager Colin Clive was dealt a blow just before kick-off, with midfield general Gary Pryde, failing to recover from a mystery virus, this coupled with the continuing loss of Ally Syme through long-term injury, led to a depleted team taking the field against Bier D'Or Alor.

Eagles were hoping to continue their recent mini revival and were first out of the traps, with Honeyman and Beauchope, probing and testing the Bier defence. The pressure on the Bier defence was relentless and although they were stretched many times, they managed to hold out until 6 minutes from the end of the first half. McGregor won a fine header on the edge of his box, this led to a swift Eagles attack, and when Honeyman left Beauchope through on the keeper with a defence splitting ball, the crowd sensed the opener was coming, and this duly came, as Beauchope finished with aplomb, dispatching the ball past the Bier keeper. Although Greg McLuckie and Mark Middleton came close with fine shots, there was to be no further scoring.

The second half started where the first half ended with the ball down at the Bier end, and with chances coming and going, it was a matter of time before the second goal came. Honeyman danced past three men on the edge of the Bier box, before a fine strike put the Eagles two up.

To a rousing reception, the injury ravaged Dean Smart made his welcome return 5 minutes into the second half, and he was immediately involved with a crisp shot from the edge of the box well saved by the keeper. Greg McLuckie then followed up well to slot a Beauchope rebound past the keeper. The goal of the game was a piece of individual brilliance from Greg McLuckie, easing past two defenders before hooking a shot past the keeper. There was to be no fairytale return for Smart who failed to finish the game, as he collapsed to the ground clutching his knee following an innocuous collision with a Bier forward. With the referee controversially seeming to find 5 minutes of extra time, there was to be one final chance for Greg McLuckie to net his hat-trick, however he spurned the chance when clean through.

Eagles Manager Colin Clive said after the match "The lad were once again on fire, they have now scored 9 goals in the last two games, and conceded none, this is over 90 minutes now without conceding a goal, a new Eagles record." He would not be drawn on speculation linking him with a host of transfer targets saying "Let's just celebrate a magnificent win for the Eagles"!

Eagles Manager Colin Clive welcomed Midfielder Darryl Honeyman back to the team, following his recent sabbatical, which at last gave him the opportunity to put out his full strength team. Eagles were on the defensive straight away, and but for a fantastic double save from Mullen in the Eagles goal, could have found themselves a goal behind in the first few minutes. From yet another Black Lung attack, Eagles produced a display of counter-attacking football with a flowing move finished with a wonderful strike from Greig McLuckie. With the Eagles now in the ascendancy, only a combination of poor finishing and fortuitous goalkeeping seen the first half draw to a close with the Eagles holding a slender one goal advantage. Clive then showed his tactical genius with well timed substitutes as, Pryde on for the toiling Greig McLuckie, set up three fine goal with deft touches. The first of which seen, Darryl Honeyman burst through to plant a fine shot past the helpless Lung Keeper for number two, while Lewis McLuckie put his brother to shame, with two fine strikes, to give him a master class in finishing, the second being from a seemingly impossible angle. With Middleton and Clive, then added to stretch a tiring Black Lung, the game began to open up, with Eagles creating the bulk of the chances. Although, Black Lung rallied late on, they came up against a resilient Mullen in goal, who was guarding his clean sheet heroically, with save after breath taking save, manfully supported by the veteran McGregor and his apprentice Lewis McLuckie. A fine solo goal from Andy Beauchope finished the scoring for the Eagles, who recorded a fine 5 v 0 win for Clive. "My players were heroes each and everyone of them, however, I must give a special mention to our man of the match Lewis McLuckie, who stayed calm despite severe antagonism from the opposition" said a clearly elated Eagles Manager!

Unfortunately the Cupar Eagles game against Barselonia was another victim of the recent cold spell. Manager Colin Clive was in an upbeat mood despite the late cancellation of the game "although the boys were able to be put through their paces, in a tough training session, nothing compares with getting out and playing the beautiful game" he said. One piece of bright news that Colin was able to bring to the Eagles supporters was the news that dynamic midfielder Darryl Honeyman has committed his future to the team. Speculation had been rife that he may have signed for Kemback on a permanent basis following his recent loan spell, however, he was quick to return when the opportunity presented himself. Eagles hope to be back in action next Monday at the usual kick-off time of 9.30 pm, all supporters welcome.

Cupar Eagles 1 v Melville Mavericks 4, 15/February/10

Confidence was high in the Cupar Eagles Camp prior to their opening match in the league campaign against Melville Mavericks. With the only absentees being Mark Malcolm and Darryl Honeyman, Manager Colin Clive had a full squad at his disposal. The Eagles flew out of the starting blocks and quickly took the game to the Mavericks and only a combination of poor finishing and bad luck seen the scores remain level. It was totally against the run of play when Mavericks burst through a static Eagles defence and a wicked deflection from McGregor left Mullen helplessly exposed. Despite constant pressure the Eagles were unable to find their way back into the match and half-time seen them go in one goal behind. The Eagles probed for the equaliser and first Greig McLuckie and then Andrew Beachope were denied by the Mavericks goalkeeper. Desperate times called for desperate measures and to a rousing reception, Manager Colin Clive made his entrance, despite his best efforts a swift counter attack left the Eagles 2 down. McGregor atoned for his earlier mistake by placing a fine shot past the Mavericks keeper to give the Eagles hope, however this was to be a false dawn as two further goals ensured Colin Clive was not to have a winning start to his tenure. Colin Clive said at the post match conference "Our boys have not played for 6 months and it showed at the end, when we were left chasing the game, however, they are not too disheartened and hope to bring some joy to our supporters before too long".

"It is always satisfying to get back to working with the players, and trying out new set-pieces on the training ground. It also gives me great pleasure to inform the fans that Mark Malcolm and Andrew Beauchop have committed their immediate futures to the team, and negotiations remain ongoing with Darryl Honeyman and Roy McGregor. It is also anticipated that a few of the more promising youngsters from the Youth Academy may be given their opportunities this season. Colin has also moved swiftly to quash rumours that The Eagles were seeking a new shirt sponsor saying "the relationship we have with Keystore, Ladywynd, Cupar is a fruitful one for both parties and with Tommy Marshall having worked hard to secure this deal, it is not one we are looking to walk away from lightly". Colin Clive the Cupar Eagles caretaker manager has moved swiftly to inject some stability into the Cupar Eagles, during his first week in charge of the club. He said "It is essential that I bring some continuity to the club, during these transient times, therefore, I can confirm that John Mullen will remain as the captain of the Eagles, with Ally Syme and Greig McLuckie as his vice-captains". On another note, Colin stated that contract negotiations remain ongoing with 'The Eagles 4' - "I know that had it not been for Tommy's illness, then Roy McGregor, Darryl Honeyman, Mark Malcolm and Andrew Beauchop would have commited their futures to the team long ago. I hope that they will all do the right thing and remain with us to continue on the Eagles adventure". Following the sad and untimely death of the Cupar Eagles Manager, Tommy Marshall, who finally succumbed to his battle with cancer, which was fought to the end in a dignified manner, a large void has been left in the hierarchy of the team. With the team lacking guidance, the Cupar Eagles, Executive Committee, have moved swiftly to appoint Colin Clive, as caretaker manager until the position can be filled on a permanent basis. This appointment is expected to be warmly received by the large Eagles fanbase, since Colin has been one of the stalwarts of team for a number of years. Colin said yesterday "Tommy was Mr Eagles and it is not my intention to replace him, I will steer the club in the direction Tommy would have wished. We are currently preparing the team to face the challenges of the new season which is expected to kick-off in mid-February, and I would urge all of our players and supporters to get behind the team and win this league for Tommy".

Penalty Shoot Out Heartbreak for Eagles

The moment all connected with Cupar Eagles had finally arrived a Cup Final with a chance to gain silverware for the first time in Eagles history. Fans had travelled far and wide to witness this day of destiny against The Inho's in the Consolation Cup. There was some concern whether the match would still go ahead with monsoon type conditions hitting Cupar mid morning and places near by but by evening the stage in St Andrews was deemed playable and so the glamour occasion would thus commence. Manager Marshall gave a rousing Winston Churchill type speech prior to kick-off to rally the troops and Eagles responded flying out the trenches with Honeyman striking the first blow to put the Cupar side 1 up. With both sides up for a battle there were casualties with Bauchope writhing in agony from a facial injury and Smart twisting an ankle. The Inho's the more physical side struck back to strike a couple of times taking advantage of the injuries sustained in the Eagles side for a 2-1 interval lead. With barely minutes played in the 2nd half The Inho's looked to have a foothold on the Cup going 3-1 ahead and for a time afterwards Eagles seemed to lose their shape as the beaks slipped down a notch. Marshall knew now it was time to act and with a couple of substitutions the game swung back as Bauchope and then Honeyman rescued the tie as it finished 3-3. Now it was time for a penalty shootout to decide the outcome and the destination of the trophy. Bauchope Honeyman and L McLuckie all scored but with 2 misses by Middleton and G McLuckie it was to be The Inho's who would be crowned the victors with a 4-3 triump. Although it was a dour post match atmosphere in the Eagles dressing room the team can take enormous credit for how far they have come in short period of time and silverware will eventually be delivered at this rate of progress in the not too distant future.

Fresh from the victorious Quarter-Final tie last week in the Consolation Cup Eagles went into their Semi-Final clash with Elavado as the underdogs but with a full strength squad at their disposal. Eagles took a shock lead when a Honeyman ball fell to the feet of G.McLuckie who stroked the ball home but a misunderstanding from Mullen and Smart led to a penalty for Elavado which was converted to equalise at 1-1. Eagles responded well after this setback with Honeyman restoring the lead with a left foot rasper then G.McLuckie put away his second and just before the interval Honeyman neatly finished a through ball from Middleton to make it 4-1. Eagles came out second half mostly defending as Elavado were trying to get back into the game but Eagles successfully managed to maintain there 3 goal lead for most of second half before going 4 up when G.McLuckie completed his hat-trick after taking advantage of poor defending. In the end Eagles ran riot and progressed into their first ever Cup Final in their 9 year history in emphatic style with a 5-1 demolition job of Elavado.

Cupar Eagles Cruise into Semi-Finals..................

Eagles welcomed old foes Kemback for a Quarter Final tie of the Consolation Cup on a nice sunny evening in St Andrews. With a first ever Semi Final beckoning in their 9 year history Eagles came out the traps like greyhounds and within half a minute G McLuckie steered the ball home after being set up from Honeyman. Kemback's response was immediate with Cameron looking suspiciously inside the box back heeling the ball past Mullen. Eagles slightly rattled soon began to find their rhythm stroking the ball all over the pitch which began to stretch their opponents. With gaps appearing as Kemback tired from chasing in the melting heat born again striker G McLuckie bagged a double as the first half came to a close.
Kemback outplayed up to this point refused to throw in the towel and a blistering 20 yard strike from Cameron made it game on. Honeyman was causing havoc with his deft touches and mazy runs in midfield and when his shot was parried by the Kemback keeper Pryde calmly side footed the ball into the right corner of the net to make it 4-2. Eagles put the game to bed with 2 more goals from G McLuckie before old timer Clive entered the arena with the clock ticking down. Clive rolled back the years sprinting past opponents half his years before a sublime finish chipping the ball over the advancing keeper that nearly took the roof off (if there had been one) to put the icing on the cake as the Eagles fans rejoiced. Eagles will now battle it out with Elevado for a place in the Final.

Tommy Joins Jim on Charity Walk..

Tommy joined Jim Leishman on his recent charity walk, here is Tommy's report in his own words:I started doing a wee bit of the Fife Coastal Path last summer with Harry Pittenweem to St Monans then St Monans to Elie and Pittenweem to Anster then went from Elie to Lower Largo where we got a bit wasted going from the Cruiso then next door to the Railway Tavern continuously. This year i decided to do as much as i could did St Andrews to Crail first then Tay Bridge to St Andrews then Crail to Elie then with Harry Lower Largo to Leven then i did Leven to Kirkcaldy then to Aberdour and when i heard about the Jim Leishman walk for charity i thought what away to finish last leg from Aberdour to North Queensferry with Jim and co. I basically just waited for Jim to catch up and asked to get my photo taken. On parts of the walk i have got lost many times ending up in a builders yard in Burntisland covered in nettles near Buckhaven when i wandered off the path and tried to get my way back up got my feet all wet in a swamp near Leuchars and nearly turning an ankle in a ditch to mention a few. Unfortunately never raised anything myself but i did donate to the Dander for Mary cancer charity that Jim Leishman was collecting for.

Eagles were dealt a blow before kick off as veteran playmaker Clive pulled out of the squad citing personal reasons in a match against new opponents Fubar. Eagles knuckled down straight from the start and Honeyman put the Eagles in front with with an opportunistic strike and it was soon a goal feast as Bauchope, G McLuckie and then Middleton had Eagles in cruise control at the break 4 nil up. Pryde made it 5 nil rifling in a long range effort and Honeyman finished with aplomb before Fubar restored a semblance of pride courtesy of Smith's blockbuster which gave Mullen no chance. G McLuckie got his second carved out from the return of impressive midfielder Malcolm before L McLuckie astonishingly directed a harmless looking ball with his head straight into his own goal past a rather bemused keeper Mullen. There was to be one final push as Eagles signed off in style when Bauchope made the final score 8-2 in a professioanl polished performance.

Eagles Settle For Draw...............

Cupar Eagles finally returned to action and in the first league game of the season Nightmare provided the opposition. Manager Marshall signed two new players in the close season to bolster an otherwise ambitious and energetic young squad of players. Marc Middleton and Dean Smart thus made their debuts in a glorious night of sunshine. Eagles came out the blocks buzzing and G McLuckie played in a delightful ball which Bauchope tucked home. A nighmare in defence cost the Eagles an equaliser before G McLuckie scored twice one with a left foot then a right to make it 3-1 before a Warosky miss hit shot landed in the net to reduce the deficit at half time.
Warosky was causing havoc in the Eagles defence running through at will and it was not long before it was all square at 3-3. With time running out and a draw seeming a likely outcome the Nighmare keeper made a monumental mistake conceding a penalty with an encroachment coming out his area. In what was billed as Cupar Eagles biggest match in their history a first ever Semi-Final of the prestigious Winter Cup was at stake with Drunken Muppets providing the opposition. Eagles were in high spirits despite the atrocious weather disrupting the schedule of play with all fixures being cancelled the week previous. Two new players Reilly and Lackie were drafted in after being signed before the transfer window shut to cope with the loss of Mullen as he took a sabatical to South Africa for a few weeks. Muppets raced into gear and tore into the Eagles defence on numerous occasions before making the breakthrough 10 mins from the break.
Eagles under pressure nearly struck back on the counter when Marshall pulled the trigger only to see the ball squirm past the right hand post. Muppets got a decisive second goal late on and then wrapped it up when Murphy side footed home the 3rd to finally kill off the Eagles Cup dream.

Cupar Eagles entertained Kemback in the 2nd game of the Winter Cup knowing victory would guarantee a passage to the quater-finals. Played in icy cold conditions the game only went ahead as the managers from each camp deemed the pitch playable. Eagles set about the task in hand in determined fashion and were soon in front with a Honeyman counter before doubling the advantage with a trademark G McLuckie strike. Kemback the no 1 ranked team in the competition seemed shell shocked but rallied to reduce the leeway with a sweet finish to make it 2-1 at half-time. Eagles came out all guns blazing at the resumption and forced the play creating numerous chances before Honeyman, Bauchope then Malcolm gave the Eagles an unasailable lead to book their ticket for the last 8 before right at the death Kemback scored no more that a late consolation.

Eagles Back With A Win.................

Cupar Eagles were back in action for the first time this year with a Winter Cup match v Untouchables. In the 4 team group it was imperative to get all 3 points against the lowest ranked opponents. Eagles made a blistering start and were 4 goals to the good at half-time through goals from Bauchope 2, Honeyman and G McLuckie. Mullen made a blunder in goal allowing a shot to come off his body which resulted in a penalty as he chased the ball out of the box. A fiercely struck shot from the spot was saved superbly as Mullen redeemed himself. G McLuckie made it 5 nil with an opportunistic finish as Eagles threatened to run riot. Untouchables responded with a quick fire double before Marshall bulleted the ball home to make it 6-2 after a Honeyman cutback. Untouchables had the final say with a nice finish but it was the Eagles night as they recorded a very satisfactory win in the Cup.

Thanks for entering this years Winter Cup. There are a total of 16 teams divided into 4 groups of 4, playing on Monday and Wednesday nights. Within the group stage the teams will play each other once with the top 2 teams from each group going through to the Quarter Final stages, where the tournament becomes knockout. The 3rd and 4th placed teams will form the Quarter finals of the Consolation tournament.
Please be aware that once we reach the knockout stages, your team may be required to play on either of the nights so the competition runs smoothly in the number of weeks we have available.

6 A-Side Soccer League Procedures
Rules/Notes for guidance
The competition will be played over two nights, Mondays and Wednesdays.
The games will kick off at 18.30, 19.30 and 20.30 starting w/c Monday the 12th of January.
All teams must have paid the £10 enrolment fee which covers administration costs, trophies and medals.
The enclosed schedule must be strictly adhered to as cancellations are not permitted. Any team failing to turn up to a match will still be charged the match fee of £12.70 and the opposing team awarded a 5-0 victory or the same result as in their previous match (which ever is more favourable). Teams not turning up for matches may be withdrawn from that competition and their application for subsequent competitions may not be accepted.
The Cup format will be as follows:
Each team will play the other 3 teams in there group once where they will be awarded:
• 3 points for a win
• 1 point for a draw
• 0 points for a loss
Points difference will establish league position and if tied on points, goal difference will be used . In the event of a further tie then goals scored will be taken into account.
All matches will be 40 minutes long, 20 minutes each way. The pitches are booked for 1 hour to allow for a short 5 minute warm up and any stoppage time. Teams must use the smaller 6 a-side goals and not the larger ones. Matches must start and finish promptly and within the allotted time to allow the following league to start on time and prevent subsequent leagues running behind schedule.
The captain of each team must ensure that they have paid their teams match fee prior to the kick off. All teams must have paid the match fee before the game can begin.
Footballs and bibs are available from reception as part of the pitch booking and must be promptly returned at the end of the game. A deposit, i.e. a matric card or driving license, must be left by the captain for any equipment they borrow. If the equipment is not returned the captain will be charged for the equipment.
Changing rooms and showers are also available. Check at reception for your allocated changing room. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms and use the lockers provided.
Immediately after the match it is the captain’s responsibility to inform reception of the result from the match. League tables will be updated weekly and will be displayed in the astro corridor and outside reception on the notice boards. League tables are also available online and can be accessed from the Sport Centre website by following the links.
All cars are to be parked in the carkpark adjacent to the sport centre or the overflow carpark further to the North.
Smoking or the consumption of alcohol is not permitted in any area of the Sport Centre and anyone found breaking this rule will be banned from the facilities
10.) All litter and rubbish must be put in the bins provided and all plastic bottles must be put in the recycling bins.
11.) It is the captain/organisers responsibility to check with the Sports Centre
regarding cancellations for bad weather (tel 01334 462190). Please note that this only happens in extreme weather conditions (see weather cancellation procedures)
12.) No dogs are allowed on any playing facility.

6 -A- Side Match Rules
Team captains are responsible for ensuring that all players within the team abide by the rules of the tournament, the regulations of the Sports Centre, the Astro pitch and maintain the highest standards of sporting behavior. The success of the competition depends on it!
Matches last 40 minutes i.e. 20 minutes each way. There is a time allowance for warming up within the 1-hour booking, but the matches must start and finish within the stated time slot. Matches must start at the latest within ten minutes of the allocated time and finish within the one hour booking.
Matches shall be started with the home team (first named team on reception sheet) kicking off from the centre with the away team kicking off the second half.
After a goal has been scored the team losing the goal kicking off from the centre shall restart the game.
If the ball goes out of play from the sideline then the game is restarted by a throw in.
If the ball goes out of play behind a goal then it is either the goalkeeper's ball or it is a corner depending on which team was last to touch the ball.
Goalkeepers must throw the ball out by using an under waist throw only. If a goalkeeper kicks the ball out or throws the ball out overarm then a direct free kick will be awarded 2m outside the goal semi circle.
If the goalkeeper saves a shot by using his feet and the ball comes back into play then the game shall continue as normal. The goalkeeper may control the ball with his feet inside the semi circle.
These are the only occasions where a goalkeeper can use his feet.
The goalkeeper may not deliberately come outside his semi circle. If he does so a penalty will be awarded to the opposing team.
Pass Back Rule. Once the goalkeeper has thrown the ball out of his semi circle the ball must come into contact with 2 outfield players before it can be passed back to the goalkeeper. A direct free kick 2m outside the circle will result if the ball is passed back directly to the goalkeeper from his throw out.
The awarding of a free kick to the defending team will penalise any attacking player encroaching into the semi circle deliberately.
An attacking player encroaching into the semi circle through his momentum e.g. after shooting from outside the box will not be penalised.
Any defending player encroaching into his own semi circle deliberately will be penalised by a penalty kick being awarded to the attacking team.
Any defending player encroaching into his own semi circle through his momentum e.g. he cannot stop after making an attempt to tackle, will not be penalised.
In any dead ball situation the defending team must be at least 2 meters away from the ball. If an offence takes place within 2m of the semi circle the ball shall be placed 2m away from the semi circle and the defending team will be allowed to stand on the line of the circle.
There is no slide tackling. Any slide tackle will result in a direct free kick.
Substitutions these can take place as often as the team requires so long as the player coming off has left the field of play before the player coming on enters the field of play.
As there are no official referee’s any controversial decisions have to be agreed by both captains and all other rules are as Scottish Football Association Rules.
Discipline
The success of this competition depends a great deal on the sportsmanlike behaviour of all players and captains are responsible for the conduct of the team. This means, Captains should encourage players to be sportsmanlike throughout the match and to be fair honest and non threatening towards your opponents.
The captain will report any offences to the organizing committee who will deal with each offence and impose an appropriate sanction. Also if necessary they will report any serious offences.
ARTIFICIAL PITCH CONDITIONS OF USE
For the safety of all users and for the benefit of the carpet surfaces please observe and inform your members and your opposition of the following:
i) The University Court does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage or injury occurring on or in the vicinity of any of its premises, and will not accept any responsibility for injuries to person/s participating in any activity on its facilities.
Any damage done to equipment, property, keys, or to facilities, fair wear and tear excepted, must be made good by the individual, group, club or organization responsible.
No photographs, films, or video recordings may be made without the express permission of the Director of Sport and Exercise.
Suitable footwear should be worn, reducing personal injury and damage to the surface. Studded boots exceeding 5 mm are not permitted as they cut up the surface, metal and aluminum studded boots are banned. Please wear training shoes or moulded boots specifically designed for an artificial surface. All footwear must be clean and mud free.
v) Do not place heavy or sharp objects on the surface.
vi) Smoking on the pitches or the surrounding areas is not permitted.
Any manual lifting of the goals must be done in accordance with good manual handling practices to avoid any risks to person/s or the goals themselves. At least two persons should be involved in lifting the small goals and 4 persons for lifting the large soccer goals. No goals should be dragged as this damages the carpet fibers.
Please start and finish promptly as time may be needed for equipment changeover. All bookings start on the hour or half-hour so play must stop five minutes beforehand to allow for a prompt start by the next group. If you are playing a match which may go to extra time, please make sure that you book enough time to safeguard this possibility. No running over time is permitted. The Master Clock is just outside the access door to the astro pitch.
ix) For those groups playing during the last booking session of the day please note that in winter the floodlights will go off promptly at the appropriate time. Not all lights will be turned off but please leave the pitch immediately prior to complete switch-off moments later.
x) Please do not leave any litter on the pitch. There are litter bins around the pitch. Chewing gum damages the carpet and must not be dropped on any of the playing surfaces.
xi) Apart from the use of plastic bottles no other drink containers are permitted within activity areas. No glass or canned containers are permitted. The consumption of alcohol on the premises is not permitted.
Access to the astro pitch is via the Reception area. The gates around the facilities are for ball retrieval only and must be locked after retrieval of balls.
xiii) Dogs are not allowed on any part of the premises.
The tennis courts are not to be used for hockey or soccer play/practice.
Management reserves the right to alter user charges at their discretion; normally these are amended on an annual basis for the 1st August.
Management reserves the right to cancel a booking at any time for good reason. Whenever possible adequate notice will be given
Management reserves the right to refuse admission to any person or persons, who in their opinion is in breach of any regulation or conditions of use or whose behaviour interferes with the safe and efficient operation of the facilities.
The individual hirer or group organiser or captain is responsible for ensuring the safety and good conduct of his/her charges and observance of the above regulations.
The hirer of the facility is required to ensure that all children under their governance enter and leave the premises in accordance with a written safety policy which has been circulated to parents. The Sports Centre is not responsible for providing a caring or child-minding facility.

With two posponments due to the weather Eagles finally played Untouchables in the last game of the season. With the league format giving out previous results for these games the league hopes were dashed and only 2nd place was available. Eagles had won the corresponding fixture but found their opponents hard to break down and the first-half ended goaless. Eagles stepped up a gear after the break and Bauchope broke the deadlock as he wheeled past several defenders to slot home. G McLuckie poked the ball past a bemused keeper from a tight angle after good lead up play featuring L McLuckie and Malcolm to relieve the tension from a tight match. With 5 mins remaining Honeyman played a defence splitting ball to Marshall who drilled a perfectly timed shot into the right hand corner for the third and final goal which cemented 2nd place and took the Eagles to their highest ever finishing position in the league.

League leaders Maize T were the opposition in a critical game with 3 points separating the teams. Eagles brought a massive travelling support along and they roared their heroes on straight from kick-off. Bauchope was skipping past players at will and when G McLuckie connected from the wee man's cut back to bullet home the opener the Eagles support erupted. Maize were looking somewhat crestfallen but as Eagles passed up chances an equaliser was conceded against the run of play. Macolm instrumental in a defensive midfield role played a diagonal pass to release Bauchope who made no mistake stroking the ball into the right hand corner. Eagles kept the pressure up in the 2nd half displaying a performance of remarkable maturity with crisp one touch football in midfield with old lynchpin Syme as sweeper mopping up any potential dangers. A third goal duly arrived with Bauchope the architect with a cut back to Honeyman who sent the keeper the wrong way. Maize threw themselves a lifeline reducing the deficit to one as Syme and L McLuckie got into a tangle with Mullen helpless in goal. A game that was played in a sporting manner to this point decended into chaos when L McLuckie hit the deck from an ungainly tackle. With a melee involving most of the players which threatened to turn ugly order was eventually restored by the more composed players from both sides. Eagles held out in the remaining seconds as the fans toasted a victory of enormous magnitude.

Eagles were back in league action after a 2 week break against What she said who they had hammered 12-1 in the first game of the season. Hopes were thus high of an easy victory but whether it was down to underestimating the opposition Eagles found it hard to get going. Eagles finally made the breakthrough when Bauchope sprinted away to slot home the opener. What she said stunned Eagles in their tracks with a well taking goal beating Mullen at the far post. Eagles went ahead with 5 mins of the half remaining and it was the pace of Bauchope again who did the damage leaving men in his wake befrore placing a delicate chip over the advancing keeper. Stern words were spoken at half time by the management team in order to stop a sluggish performance and Eagles quickly manoeuvred out of 1st gear. Honeyman got on the end of a L McLuckie cross to make it 3-1 then Marshall peeled away from his markers to free up G McLuckie for the 4th goal ghosting in at the back post. What she said kept battling away and Syme stayed alert in defence to deal with the infrequent counter attacks by the visitors. Eagles cruised in the latter stages but still had time to grab another 2 goals by Honeyman and G McLuckie as the fight seemed to drain away from What she said.

Eagles took advantage of a break in the league to play old foes Kemback in a friendly. Conditions were certainly not conducive to the Eagles passing game as a force 8 gale from west to east spoilt any chance of an entertaining encounter. With the Eagles backs to the wind it was no surprise when Kemback took the lead but Eagles hung on in the first half as goals by Honeyman and G McLuckie interspaced by another Kemback goal made it all square at half time. Clive was having a fine game with some neat touches troubling the defence and fired in a half volley that clipped the crossbar. L McLuckie then scored the goal of the night as the ball sailed in from 30 yards past a somewhat bemused Kemback keeper. Kemback to their credit kept plugging away and drew level once more before Honeyman scored the winner for Eagles drilling a low shot into the right hand corner to take the plaudits in a very sporting contest between 2 evenly matched teams.

Eagles were dealt a severe blow when playmaker Clive was ruled unfit to face Untouchables in game 5 of the league. Untouchables took a stranglehold of the match in the intial period establishing a 2 goal lead before the eagles got their talons into this encounter when Malcolm ran through the oppposition defence to blast home. It took the last seconds of the first half before parity was restored when Honeyman latched onto a ball from G McLuckie before steadying himself to fire past the keeper. McGregor replaced Mullen in goal in the second half as the latter received a knee injury. McGregor pulled off an incredible save turning a net bound effort round the post. This was to prove the turning point as G McLuckie converted a Honeyman cross then Honeyman made it 4-2. Marshall was terrorising the Untouchables defence with darting runs through the middle and it was from the veteran's pass that led to Honeyman completing his hatrick to make it 5-2. Eagles cruised through the remaining minutes but Honeyman still had time to notch his 4th before a McGregor fumble gave Untouchables a consolation goal right at the death.

Real McCoy provided the opposition for Cupar Eagles latest league match who were dealt a severe blow as captain Mullen was mysteriously absent. Better news for the Eagles as McGregor returned and he was pitched straight into the sticks. In a cold, blusttery night conditions were harsh and the free flowing football synonymous with the Eagles was understandibly lacking. Real McCoy adapted better and took a deserved lead before Eagles adopted plan B into their game getting crosses into the box where Pryde blasted home the equaliser. Pryde then turned provider as his deep cross found Honeyman who sweeped the ball high into the net as the first half came to a close. Malcolm replaced Bauchope who went to ground with a nasty head knock dazed and confused suffering the effects of concussion. McLuckie got in the way of a Honeyman piledriver which was going wide but good fortune smiled on the Eagles as it deflected into the goal to make it 3-1. Real McCoy made sure it was a grandstand finish as they reduced the leeway to one. As the pressure continued to build from Real, Marshall put back time with a lung busting run from the half way line and picked his spot with a right foot finish into the bottom right hand corner to seal a very important 3 points in a tightly contested league.

Eagles entertained Maize T without defensive lynchpin Syme who was out with a back injury but received a boost as Malcolm returned from a self imposed exile. Eagles were soon on the back foot as Maize T carved out some glorious opportunities and Mullen was eventually beaten when he spilled a shot where the rebound was knocked home for the opener. A carbon copy resulted in the second goal being conceded as Eagles struggled to adapt to the pressures of league leaders. Harsh words were spoken at half-time as Marshall demanded more grit and determination to overcome the lacklustre display of the first-half. This seemed to bear fruit as Honeyman polished of a move straight from the training ground from a McLukie cross. Maize T came back with a vengeance and their striker hit a bullet to restore the two goal advantage. Tempers were already heated and they hit boiling point as a clumsy tackle on McLuckie resulted in a mass brawl involving most of the players. Marshall used his man management skills to diffuse a hostile situation and from the resultant free kick Malcolm hit a twenty yarder into the net. Maize T ran down the clock in the remaining 5 minutes as Eagles were toppled from their high flying perch.

Eagles started their new season playing new opponents What She Said who were an unknown quantity as the sides had never crossed paths before. Eagles made the early running and were soon rattling in the goals at a ferocious pace. First Pryde danced away from his marker to slot home before Honeyman, G McLuckie and L McLuckie all got on the scoresheet before What She Said registered their account with a counter attacking move leaving Mullen in goal helpless. G McLuckie completed the scoring as a one sided first half came to a close. Eagles wings never came off the gound as they accelerated away from their plucky opponents as an avalanche of goals rained down as G McLuckie completed his hatrick then further goals by G McLuckie, L McLuckie and Honeyman with 2 had Eagles coasting to victory. Clive (Photo Above) entered the arena and the veteran playmaker bossed the midfield with his tenacious tackling and spraying the ball all over the park always finding his man before he ghosted away to strike a sublime finish past the despairing What She Said goalkeeper. Beauchope completed the rout as Eagles recorded the biggest win in their history and soared to the top of the league in a night of glorious achievement.

Cupar Eagles faced Tetley Tea-bags in the last game league decider needing to win without 2 key players in Honeyman and Clive but welcomed back Syme taking his position in the centre of defence. A large travelling support had made the short journey to cheer the Eagles on to hopefully the first piece of silverware in their short but illustrious history. Tea-bags started at a ferocious pace and made the early breakthrough and then twice hit the woodwork as the Eagles were clearly rattled as nerves gripped the team in their day of destiny. Then out of the blue Eagles responded when McLuckie struck an equaliser to send the Eagles following into raptures of delight. As the second-half got under way Eagles started to play carving out opportunities which eventually paid dividends as McEwan wheeled around his marker putting the Eagles 2-1 up to stage a mini pitch invasion behind the goal as the realisation of the scenario of glory started to hit home. Tea-bags were clearly flustered but raised the ante and were soon back level before a controversial Tea-bags 3rd goal seemed to be the turning point for the match. Eagles fought to the end but were hit by a sucker punch late on as the title slipped away. It was to be a sombre Eagles dressing room after the match but the team has come far and can be proud of themselves from propping up the leagues in the past to now being in contention for the main prizes.

Eagles were anxious to carry their 5 streak winning run in a match involving Shell C who had won the corresponding fixture earlier in the season. Eagles started brightly and quickly set upon their opponents depleted team of 5 straight from kick-off but apart from a McLuckie strike early on and a Bauchope mazy run and finish Eagles entered the interval with only a 2 goals to 1 advantage. In the second-half Shell C tired with their numerical disadvantage and Eagles started to exploit the added space now becoming available. Bauchope scored another peach lobbing over the keeper before McLuckie, Honeyman and McEwan(2) settled the nerves as the match started to resemble an Eagles training session. Shell C battered and bruised battled on and fired in a second goal before Eagles completed the rout with 2 more goals as both Bauchope and McLuckie scored their hat-tricks. Eagles are still awaiting a decision by the league supervisor whether or not a replayed game will be played or if the points that were origianally awarded to CHR will end up in the Eagles points tally which if so will provide a league decider against Tetley Tea-Bags in the last game of the season.

Cupar Eagles wore their new strips for the first time against Barca Boyz which had provided the opposition previously when the Eagles secured their biggst win in their history winning 9 nil. This was to prove a tighter affair as Barca set out their stall early doors and were determined not to suffer another humiliation. Barca stunned the form team in the league drawing first blood and a major shock seemed a possibility. Eagles were rattled and the slick passing movements from a run of 3 successive victories had evaporated. However with 5 mins remaining of the first-half Honeyman restored parity with a left foot finish at the near post. Manager Marshall tried his best to calm down his troops at the interval and this seemed to do the trick as intricate passing maneouvers from the past started to bear fruit. Firstly Mcluckie timed a tackle to perfection and then played a defence splitting ball to McEwan who kept his head to put the Eagles 2-1 up. With the Eagles wings up and anxious to put the game beyond their plucky opponents Marshall scored a screamer half volleying the ball into the net from a rebound as the keeper had saved brilliantly from a McLuckie shot. Marshall then went off to a standing ovasion as Clive entered the fray with 6 mins remaining. Mullen pulled off a couple of saves at the death as Eagles recorded their best ever run of 4 consecutive wins.

Cupar Eagles took to the field with confidence understandably high, following on the back of a three match unbeaten record. The Eagles went straight onto the offensive with fine passing cutting swathes through the CHR defence, leaving them chasing shadows, the return of Clive up front was clearly causing massive problems for the away team. The first goal duly arrived and it was from fine hold up play from Clive, who laid the ball off to the advancing L.McLuckie who left the keeper with no chance with a fine well placed shot. CHR retaliated almost straight away to level the scores with Mullen in the Eagles goal left helpless. Clive was to play no further part in proceedings as his old ankle knock again flared up, however, his understudy McEwan was equal to the task and restored the Eagles goal with his first touch of the game. CHR were not to be denied and once more reached level pegging following a defensive mix-up at the heart of the Eagles defence. Beauchope then weaved his way past three dispairing tackles and a well placed goal put the Eagles ahead once more. CHR in another rare foray in the Eagles half somehow managed to equalise as a shot went in off the post to nestle in the Eagles net. Honeyman finished a well worked free kick to put the Eagles 4 v 3 up, however the lead was to last a matter of minutes before CHR equalised for a fourth time. The second half seen Malcolm and G.Mcluckie sent on as the Eagles chased the three points which would secure second place, and it was Malcolm who linked well with Honeyman to send him clear with only the goalkeeper to beat and the prolific marksman made no mistake to put the Eagles ahead. Honeyman finished off his hat-trick in style with another mazy run leaving a trail of flailing defenders in his wake. G.Mcluckie scored the final and arguably the best goal of the game with a sweet half-volley which soared into the CHR goal. A fine virtuoso performance form G.McLuckie ensured that he secured the man of the match award.

Cupar Eagles returned to action to face East Neuk with spirits high in the camp after last weeks rout of table toppers Tetley Tea-bags. Manager Marshall returned to the fold and Clive was back after shrugging off an ankle injury. Eagles knew only victory would do in their quest for the league crown and blitzed East Neuk with a 3 nil advantage after only 5 minites. East Neuk made up from mostly fishermen however refused to be reeled in and struck back to make it 3-2 but then McLuckie and Honeymen restored the 3 goal lead before East Neuk pulled a goal back as a frantic first half ended.
Honeyman made it 6-3 for the Eagles but back came East Neuk with 2 goals as the match ebbed and flowed one way to the other. Eagles again regained the intiative when McEwan scored from a McLuckie knock down but couldn't seem to put the gutsy fishermen down as they refused to buckle as they scored another 2 goals to catch the Eagles at 7-7 as the match entered the final stages. It was the Eagles though who found that little bit extra as Honeyman proved to be the saviour racing from midfield with Marshall in support who pulled 2 men away and buried his shot for the winner as the combined emotions of ecstasy and relief was most tangiable in the Eagles players and supporters who had witnessed a classic encounter.

Cupar Eagles were once again without several players through various commitments, however, the most significant blow was the news that manager Marshall would not be participating due to his ongoing search for new blood for his squad. Games in the past involving these two teams always throw up some memorable games, and this one certainly did not disappoint. Eagles started the brighter of the two teams and were quickly on the offensive, with both Honeyman and G.McLuckie going close. Ten mins in, and the opening goal duly arrived, fine work involving both McEwan and Honeyman ended with the latter dispatching the ball into the TeaBags goal to give the Eagles the lead. A swift response from TeaBags ensured that Mullen was kept busy in the Eagles goal, however he dealt with everything thrown at him with consummate ease. With defender Syme having to lead the field with an eye injury, the Eagles had to swiftly reorganise their defence. A wicked deflection on the edge of the box somehow contrived with the ball in the back of the Eagles lead to restore parity. McEwan should have restored the Eagle's lead just before half-time, however, he somehow hit the bar with the goal at this mercy. The game turned on a moment of controversy a few minutes into the second half, with the TeaBags pressing, their striker went down under an innocuous challenge from L.McLuckie, play continued and the Eagles went upfield with G.McLuckie finishing a well rehearsed move as the speed of the Eagles breakaway left TeaBags floundering. Further goals from McEwan who atoned for his earlier miss with arguably the goal of the game, a sweet shot into the corner giving the keeper no chance, and an additional two goals from Honeyman who completed his hat-trick ensured the TeaBags were soundly routed. Best for the Eagles were Mullen in goal, McEwan who keeps up his fine record of a goal every game, but the man of the match went to Darryl Honeyman.

Cupar Eagles spirits were at a all time high after last weeks record victory as Shell C provided the opposition. Eagles came with a threadbare squad in contrast to the week before as several key players due to various reasons were absent. The first half was fiercely contested as two evenly matched teams cancelled each other out and although Marshall fired in a 25 yard powerdriver which skimmed the crossbar this was to be the highlight as the teams changed ends goalless. Shell C pushed forward and tested the colossal defensive partnership of Syme and Marshall to the limit which had held firm for 70 minutes without the Eagles goal being breached but eventually Mullen who had pulled off some breathtaking saves earlier was finally beaten as the stalemate was broken. Shell C then scored a second as the game seemed to be slipping away from the Eagles. McEwan played in Bauchope where he waltzed through on goal using Clive as the decoy and finished sweetly into the left hand corner. Shell C looked to have secured the points as they made it 3-1 but Eagles fought to the death and McEwan pulled back a goal in the dying seconds which was to be no more than a consolation. In the end a disappointing result after last weeks sensational win but off the field the management team have been working tirelessly to secure new shirt sponsors and there is expected to be an official announcement within the next couple of weeks.

Cupar Eagles recorded their biggest victory in their 8 year history as they demolished Barca Boyz in a one sided encounter in St Andrews. Eagles welcomed new signing Steve McEwan and he was pitched straight into the starting line-up with a full strength squad at Manager Marshall's disposal. Eagles made the early running and Marshall forced a finger tip save from ex Eagles goal keeper Stuart Sullivan who was released at the end of last season. The early breakthrough was not to be denied though as Honeyman and Marshall linked together to feed McEwan who slotted home the opener. The floodgates opened at this point and further goals from McLuckie, Honeyman, Beachope, Sullivan og and McEwan gave the Eagles an unassailable 6 nil lead at the break. Eagles freshened things up for the second half as McEwan took over in the sticks and the remaining subs came on. The dominance from the Eagles was still very much evident as wave after wave of Eagles pressure tested Sullivan on numerous occasions. G McLuckie scored his second and Honeyman also got a brace before the rout was completed when Malcolm galloped from midfield to fire past a sorry looking Sullivan in the Barca goal.

Cupar Eagles were back in action after a registration error left the the team in limbo over the last 2 to 3 months. East Neuk were the opposition in a more competitive Tuesday night league at St Andrews University. Due to logistical problems and a back injury forcing man mountain Syme out a depleted team set out to light up the Eagles faithful following a self imposed exile amongst Fife's premier 6 a-side football teams. Eagles struggled in the early period of the the game and East Neuk were soon 1 up before a link up move between Clive and Honeyman sent the latter through on goal were he blasted into the net to restore parity. Marshall was timing his tackles to perfection in the heart of the defence in the absence of Syme and Clive had found a new release of energy following his decision to join a gym but out of the blue East Neuk grabbed the initiative where a 2 goal burst followed to make it 3-1 at the interval.
Marshall made another of his legendary speeches in order to motivate the troops at the break and it seemed to do the trick as Eagles upped the ante but it was East Neuk who held firm against an avalanche of sustained pressure to score twice more before Honeyman and then Greg McLuckie who both found the net threatened an ulikely comeback. East Neuk regained their composure though and finished the stronger scoring 3 more times as the match finally reached its conclusion.

Eagles came into the fixture with a very depleted squad that only consisted of D.Honeyman, S.Sullivan, L.McLuckie and G.McLuckie but thankfully friends of the club came to the rescue and allowed the game to commence. Morris and Farmer were the two new additions who made up the squad to face kemback Eagles started the match very positively with the scoreline 0-0 for half the first period which saw many chances go a miss for both teams but it was Kemback who opened the scoring with a lack of communication between the Eagles defence which allowed the Kemback striker to sneak in and tuck the ball neatly into the corner of the net past S.Sullivan.
Eagles then went close straight from kick off as Farmer weaved past two defenders and struck a fierce shot just wide of the mark. Kemback struck back when Eagles were caught out at the back twice in a row which allowed the Kemback strikers to make easy openings and score two more goals to make it 3-0 before the break.Eagles came out second half with a positive attitude despite the scoreline and created many chances mainly through creative runs from D.Honeyman and S.Morris but could not quite get the ball in the Kemback goal which resulted in Eagles being punished again from the counterattack which allowed Kemback to score again. Then when hope was lost Greg McLuckie received the ball just outside the centre circle and let fly with a thunderbolt strike which curled into the corner of the Kemback net and left the keeper standing. Eagles then went on to score yet another to make it 4-2 when D.Honeyman hit a rocket of a shot which was too hard for the keeper to handle which resulted in a class bar and in finish. Eagles were not out of the game yet as they pushed on and created several attacks including a great run from Lewis McLuckie as he dribbled past a defender and let fly but it was deflected wide to the frustration of the Eagles travelling support.

It was a confident Eagles team that lined up v league champions St Andrews Utd in the second match of the Winter Cup after last weeks morale boosting win. Eagles got off to the worst possible start when confusion between goalkeeper and defender led to Mullen putting the ball into his own net. Worse was to follow as Utd scored twice more in the first five mins to make it a mountain to climb for the Cupar side. Utd buoyed up by their blistering start continued to dominate and finished the first-half six goals to the good without any reply despite a missed penalty brilliantly saved by Sullivan in the Eagles goal. Eagles finally scored when Gregg McLuckie rode a couple of challenges before slotting the ball past the Utd keeper. Utd responded with two more goals before Clive set up McLuckie with a delightful through ball and the youngster picked his spot for his second of the game. Eagles threatened a brief comeback when a Marshall cross found Bauchope and his resultant shot came of a St Andrews player and landed into the net. Tempers were getting a bit heated by this stage with over zealous tackling and Mullen had to be restrained as the game threatened to boil over.
Utd scored another two goals before the end as the Eagles left the field dejected as hopes of Cup glory were severely dented.

Eagles Are Up For The Cup...

Cupar Eagles took on Tetley Tea-bags in the first game of the Winter Cup played in a Champions League style format with 4 teams in a group with the top side progressing to the Semi-Finals. With a large travelling support behind the goals Eagles were looking to impress in their first ever venture in this competition. Tea-bags though had other ideas and scored the opener with their first foray up the park. Eagles drew level when Honeyman drove home after fine work in the middle of the park by Beachope and McLuckie and then went ahead when Malcolm converted a Honeyman through ball. Back came Tea-bags who equalised straight away but just on half-time Eagles regained the lead when Honeyman polished off another fine passing movement. Marshall entered the fray at the start of the second half and made an instant impact finishing with some aplomb striking the ball past the stranded Tea-bags keeper to make it 4-2. Tea-bags were not finished and replied to reduce the deficit to one before Marshall restored the two goal advantage scoring a peach of a goal after confusion in the Tea-bags defence. Marshall then came off to a standing ovation from the ecstatic Eagles support with 7 mins remaining. Eagles put the game beyond doubt when Honeyman got his hat-trick sliding home a McLuckie cross. Clive came on with the clock ticking down and made a critical intervention stopping a Tea-bags player on the verge of shooting as the Eagles held firm to record a perfect start in pursuit of their first ever piece of silverware.

Eagles took on Kemback in their penultimate league fixture hoping to bounce back from last weeks defeat. Eagles seemed rattled early doors and were soon one down in the opening minutes. Kemback were well in the assendency at this point and Sullivan saved at point blank range to keep Eagles from falling further behind. Eagles survived the early onslaught and equalised when Pryde latched onto a Honeyman through ball to fire home. The game was proving to be an absorbing contest at this point and Eagles got their noses in front when Bauchope got his name on the score sheet after another assist from Honeyman.
Kemback put pressure on the Eagles goal at the start of the second half with Sullivan called into action on numerous occasions to keep the Eagles lead intact. Kemback finally got their reward as an ensuing scramble in the Eagles defence was finally tucked away for two apiece. Marshall entered the fray and after an exquisite back heel from the manager sent Bauchope galloping down the wing where he delivered a pinpoint cross which found Malcolm who finished in style from 15 yards out to thunderous applause from the Eagles contingent.

Eagles Go Down To United

Eagles took to the field without the services of Malcolm and Bisset for the visit of league leaders St Andrews Utd. Clive was pitched into the starting six following an extensive training programme devised by the management team to improve his fitness levels. Underfoot conditions were tricky with a light frost covering the surface resulting in mistimed tackles as players were sliding all over the pitch. Clive made a significant early impact when he wheeled away from his marker and laid the ball to Honeyman who fired home the opener. United replied despite the acrobatic efforts from Sullivan in goal as the equaliser was conceded. Tempers rose as McGregor mistimed his tackle and with the opposing player taking exception a minor melee broke out. Marshall came down from his technical area to diffuse the situation and the game was restarted. Eagles stepped up a gear and went ahead when Bauchope wriggled past the Utd defence before unleashing the ball into the net from an acute angle. Utd were rattled but restored parity with a slick finish and then moved in front as the match turned on its head. Marshall blasted a shot straight into the keepers hands after fine work by Clive on the wing as Eagles attempted to come back. Utd got their fourth which consigned the Eagles fate late in the game as a run of four consecutive matches unbeaten was to come to a end.

Eagles unbeaten in two matches faced Blazing Squad hoping for revenge when Eagles lost 4-2 in the first match. Only Bisset was absent from last week but Mullen failed a late fitness test with a troubled shoulder. Eagles were off to a flyer when Malcolm collected the ball in midfield before releasing Honeyman who shot past the keeper to make it 1-0. Sullivan had to look lively to keep out a net bound effort at the other end. Eagles made it 2-0 when Lewis McLuckie tore down the wing and crossed for Malcolm to slide the ball home. Blazing Squad got back into the game when a speculative shot ended in the back of the net. Eagles were playing with a certain panache and stroking the ball about beautifully and a third goal duly arrived when Greg McLuckie converted a fine passing movement to restore the two goal advantage. Marshall was unlucky with a ferocious shot from the half way line that went just inches wide. McGregor was carried off with a severe head knock following an innoculous tackle which halted the game for a few minutes. Blazing Squad scored to set up a grandstand finish when Sullivan got himself in a tangle and failed to keep the ball out. With only seconds remaining Eagles put the game to bed when Honeyman drilled the ball into the roof of the net to register a 4-2 win and move the Eagles up to third in the league.

Eagles Fight Back To Earn Draw............

Eagles took on Tetley Tea-bags hoping to replicate the performance and result when the teams last met when Eagles ran out 3-1 winners. Malcolm returned from his loan spell from Crystal Palace reserves and was slotted straight back into the team. The weather resembled monsoon type conditions with the rain lashing down which made the Eagles passing game difficult to administer. Tea-bags stunned Eagles with an early goal within 5 minutes. Eagles were soon level when Honeyman sprinted down the wing and found Marshall arriving late at the far post where the manager bulleted his shot past the stranded keeper. Tea-bags caught the Eagles defence sleeping when Syme was guilty to pick his man up and despite the heroics of McGregor in goal just failed to keep the shot out to take a 2-1 lead. Tea-bags made it 3-1 before Bisset found Beachope who ran through the midfield before releasing McLuckie who drilled his shot into the right hand corner of the net to reduce the deficit to one. Eagles were adapting to the conditions better at this stage and it came as no surprise when the equaliser arrived when Honeyman finished off a polished move featuring Lewis McLuckie and Malcolm. At this stage the Eagles looked comfortable and looked favourite to win but Tea-bags had other ideas and regained the lead with 5 minutes to go. Eagles of old would have felt deflated but a never say die spirit hauled the Eagles back from despair and Bisset calmly stroked the ball home much to the delight of the Eagles die-hard supporters who deserve a special mention of braving the atrocious elements to support the team.

Eagles were in confident mood to face newcomers Atletico Allstars who were marooned at the bottom of the league with no points. Eagles tore into their opposition straight from kick-off with Bisset and McLuckie forcing good quality saves from the Allstars keeper. The first goal duly arrived when young Lewis McLuckie sprinted down the wing and produced a quality cross which was put away by Honeyman arriving late at the far post. The avalanche of goals that was expected did not materialise and McGregor was called into action a couple of times with Atletico proving dangerous on the counter attack. The second half was a mirror image of the first as Eagles tried to put their opponents out of sight but a mixture of poor finishing and magnificent goalkeeping kept the scoreline static. Eagles finally got their reward when Honeyman ghosted in at the back post to prod the ball past the despairing arms of the Allstar keeper. Eagles were dealt a severe blow when a two footed challenge by an Allstar player resulted in Bisset writhing in agony holding his ankle. Marshall came on to replace the injured Bisset and the former player of the year nearly made an instant impact running through the Allstar defence before teeing up Bauchope who fired over from close range. Allstars pulled a goal back when the Eagles defence fell asleep and worse was to follow when the equaliser was conceded with Syme failing to pick his man up. Right at the death McGregor acrobatically dived to his right to keep the score level. Eagles left the field despondently to a chorus of boos from the Eagles faithful as the draw felt like a defeat.

Eagles welcomed St Andrews Utd for a first ever meeting between the two sides without influential midfielder Bisset. Eagles settled into a early rhythm and took the lead when Honeyman scored after a delightful ball from McLuckie. Eagles were producing a top class performance and it came as no surprise when Bauchope set up McLuckie who finished in style blasting the ball home to make it two nil. Utd seemingly stunned with this blistering start from a highly charged Eagles outfit lost their composure for a period resorting to some unsavoury incidents with Eagles captain Mullen getting caught up in things. Mullen came off in a tactical move to diffuse this situation as the game was getting out of hand with some reckless and dangerous tackling. Utd clawed their way back into the match reducing the arrears to one when Sullivan was beaten at the back post. Halley came on and made a instant impact when he collected a McLuckie pass and buried his shot into the roof of the net before half time.
Utd scored a controversial goal scoring from a position that seemed to many to be inside the box but was given to the disgust of the Eagles faithful behind the goal. Utd levelled the match to make it three apiece before Halley finished with some aplomb wriggling free of his marker to make it 4-3. This game was now a classic and the play ebbed from end to end as both teams were going all out for victory. Utd equalised for a second time before taking the lead for the first time to go five four up. With the clock ticking down and the words glorious failure ringing a bell Eagles equalised with virtually the last kick of the ball when Halley got his hat trick rifling the ball home from a McLuckie corner producing a ecstatic response from all Eagles players and supporters to complete a memorable and tremendous advert for 6 a-side football.

Eagles Battle To The End.................

After last weeks success hopes were high going into the game against Blazing Squad. Another squad of twelve gathered together and with defensive lynchpin Syme back after suffering from flu last week three points was the main objective in the Eagles quest for promotion. Blazing Squad came out of the traps like lightning and stunned the Eagles with a ferocious strike to go one up after only two minutes on the clock with goalkeeper Sullivan helpless to keep the ball out. Eagles regained their composure after this setback and gradually took a foothold on the game. Eagles were creating excellent opportunities but striker McLuckie was the main sinner as he passed up three gilt edged chances to score.
In the second half Eagles made a few substitutions to hopefully change the direction of the match but it was Blazing Squad that added to their lead as they scored twice more to make it three nil. Halley was proving a handful in midfield as Eagles stepped up the pace and as he shot through a ruck of players the ball took a wicked deflection of a Blazing Squad player and landed in the net. Marshall then hit the side netting after a mazy run from Bauchope. Halley then scored from twenty yards as a comeback now looked a distinct possibility. Syme was solid at the back and having a fine game as he mopped up many counter attacks from the opposition as Eagles desperately searched for the elusive equaliser. With time now the enemy Eagles pushed forward in droves but with a minute left Blazing Squad wrapped up victory with a fourth to finally kill of the Eagles.

Eagles Start With A Win................................

Eagles did a lot of soul searching in the close season as previous scorelines were deemed unacceptable for the club and as a result new players were drafted in for the new league campaign. Eagles entertained Tetley Tea-Bags for the first game with a healthy squad of twelve which gave the management team a slight headache as to fill the starting six. Eagles got of to a flyer when new recruit Honeyman fed by new signing Bisset swivelled in the six yard box to fire home to the delight of the Eagles supporters who had come out in force to witness hopefully a new era for the fortunes of the club. Tea-Bags to their credit responded and Sullivan had to look lively to push a net bound effort round the post. This warning was not heeded as Tea-Bags equalised from the resultant corner to restore parity. Eagles from the past may have wilted given this setback but with a new team with new belief they drove forward and a slick passing move featuring Beachope and Bisset was finished in style as Honeyman ghosted in at the far post to slide the ball home.
Eagles were playing good controlled football and the defensive duo of Mullen and McLuckie were solid at the back. The midfield was creative and numerous times the Tea-Bags defence was breeched and a third goal was duly scored when Honeyman got his hatrick after a through ball from Bisset was bulleted past the stranded keeper. Marshall came on and a fine rasping shot from the manager just flew past as Eagles looked to close the match out. The game ended three one as Eagles recorded their first win of any league campaign to silence the critics who have slated the team in the past.

Thumping For Cupar Eagles

Eagles finished their disappointing league campaign against league champions Steau Needarest. After last weeks relegation Eagles only had pride to play for and with a strong pool of players at the managers disposal hopes were high for a final flourish. Unfortunately for Eagles despite the opposition's name Needarest who were clearly not needing to rest as they blitzed the Eagles goal for most of the night as the goals rained in one after another. With the Eagles defence leaking like a sieve it was eight nil at half time and although the defence tightened marginally in the second half a fourteen goal to nil scoreline was recorded. Clive impressed with a few Russel Latapy touches but is no Craig Brewster. Overall not a night to remember.

Eagles Go Down Fighting......................

Eagles travelled to meet Hazbeens in a critical league fixure needing to take at least a point in their fight against relegation. The management team have been busy and two new signings were brought into the squad in the hope for back to back victories after last weeks success. Eagles came storming out the traps and a two goal lead was established with Beachope and Pryde finding the net with the Eagles support behind the goal in full voice. Hazbeens were stunned by this blistering start but soon began to put pressure on the Eagles defence which eventually cracked with three goals scored before Eagles levelled as new signing Sullivan finished of a great move involving Marshall and Lewis McLuckie. Hazbeens scored twice more before the break for a five goal to three lead.
Hazbeens soon made it six-three but new midfield signing Honeyman played a delightful ball through to Beachope and the prolific marksman got his second of the night to reduce the deficit to six-four. The game was flowing from end to end but it was Hazbeens who took a real grip of the match with Mullen in goal unable to keep out another two goals as the writing now seemed to be firmly on the wall. Sullivan scored his second after fine work from Pryde on the bye line. Hazbeens were to score again before Beachope got his hatrick and when McLuckie scored to reduce the arrears by two the great escape seemed a possibility. With Eagles pushing full steam ahead it was Hazbeens who scored with the final kick of the match to seal the Eagles relegation.

Eagles travelled with a depleted squad to face Bonnybanks in a league fixture. Bonnybanks settled into a free flowing rhythm straight away and it came as no surprise when they took the lead after only five minutes. Eagles were being torn apart almost at will from a Bonnybanks team that were going in for the kill and they soon registered a five goal lead going into the break.
Harsh words were spoken at half-time by the management team to address the unacceptable performance level from the first half and subsitute Clive nearly had an immediate impact sprinting full pelt onto a Halley flick on which unfortunately just went out of play. Eagles defence was being constantly carved open and two more goals were lost before a defence splitting pass from Lewis McLuckie found Marshall in space near the Bonnybanks penalty box where the Manager produced a deft touch past the keeper for a sublime finish. Bonnybanks were not finished and two more goals were scored as they recorded a nine goal to one drubbing.

Cupar Eagles Head Down The League

Eagles played host to old foes Elevado without midfield maestro Malcolm with work commitments ruling him out. Manager Marshall returned from le Tour de France where he was hoping to gain an insight into the mindset and nutritional requirements of professional athletes and implement them within the club structure. Mullen made an astonishing basic error early doors allowing the ball to squeeze through his hands to gift Elevado the lead. Soon Eagles found themselves two down as Elevado dominated the early proceedings. Eagles faired better in the second half and Marshall hit a volley from a Lewis McLuckie cross just wide with the keeper beaten. Halley was causing problems in the heart of the Elevado defence but a mixure of poor finishing and superb goalkeeping kept the Eagles at bay. Elevado went three up which seemed to put the match beyond doubt but Halley raced onto a Clive through ball to reduce the deficit. Eagles tired badly near the end and another three goals were shipped to leave the club lying perilously close to relegation.

Cupar Eagles Earn Draw................

Cupar Eagles played host to Petrol Heads in what even at this early stage of the season had become a relegation battle. Eagles were without Star Midfielder Malcolm due to work commitments and Manager Marshall who has been assisting with marshalling at the Tour de France, there was a welcome return though for McGregor at the heart of defence. Petrol Heads were first to threaten and only the heroics of Mullen in goal prevented an early goal, although there was an early injury scare for the Eagles with Mullen injuring himself colliding with the post, after treatment he was however able to carry on. A long range shot which seemed to move in the tricky conditions somehow ended up in the back of the Eagles net, to give the Petrol Heads an early advantage. When a second goal followed after slack play in the Eagles defence from Syme allowed the unmarked Petrol Heads forward to score, despite Mullen getting a hand to the ball it seemed to be all over for the Eagles. Halley managed to steal the ball from a dithering defence and slipped the ball past the advancing keeper, suddenly the comeback was on, and when the equaliser arrived after a perfect through ball from Beauchop the initiative now passed to the Eagles. The first half ended 2 v 2. The second half continued with the Eagles pressing and both Greig McLuckie and Pryde had fine shots well saved With the new acadamy signing Lewis McLuckie introduced with 10 mins to go, it was felt that it was only a matter of time until the winner came however the Petrol Heads hung on tand he game finished all-square.
